Hammond Carnival 4/16/09

I am still amazed with the conversations we had last night 4/16/09!! Mary, Jenny, Roland, and me (Annette) went to the Downtown Hammond Carnival in hopes of sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. Many, many, conversations and many tracts were given. We really need your prayers for these souls!

Please pray for:
Aneek- a worker from South Africa who came all this way to get away from the pressures of life. She was very sensitive talking about death since she is still grieving her mother's death. We spent a lot of time with her since she was very interested in knowing what happens after death. She had heard about Jesus but it was as if all that we were saying was brand new to her! I think it made sense! The gospel was shared and tracts were given. We also left her with more literature and we all prayed together.

Tamika and Nae Nae - It started out being a rather large group of teenagers. With millions in our hands, we asked them what they would do with a million dollars...they would buy houses, cars, go to college, etc. We then asked them... how much are their souls worth?? They didn't have an idea. We went through WOTM and most left except for the 2 girls who wanted to know more. With convicted hearts, we share the Gospel, left them with tracts, and allowed us to pray for their safety.

James White - A worker who said that he would buy a kidney with his million. Please pray for James since we didn't get to finish our conversation. He was called to work on a machine and had to go. He appreciated us talking with him and excused himself.

Alex - A father of 2 kids who said that he has been wanting to teach his kids about the important things in life. We encouraged him to do so and we told him what the most important thing is. He agreed and said that he is ready to make that commitment. We left him with some "What If" cards and told him to visit the site that can help him and other literature. He had a bible at home and said that he would read the book of John. He was very thankful.

Anna - A mother of 3 who had just started going to a christian church. She said that she had asked Jesus into her heart... we talked about John 3:3 and asked her if she was born again. She realized that she was not born again. We shared the true Gospel of Jesus Christ, left her with some literature, and encouraged her to read the book of John.

Brandon - He asked us for some millions... we told him to read the back. He was not able to read so he asked us to read it to him. We gladly did and shared the gospel with him. We encouraged him to repent and to place his faith in Jesus Christ Alone for salvation. He allowed us to pray for his safety.

These are just some of the conversations...
The Holy Spirit was there with us, as you can see. Even in a very dark, sad, violent, and angry part of town. Many people are hurting and need The Savior.
